Use this procedure when you have an entity already set up in Cimplico Workpapers that you want to link to a Xero file or change the Xero file it’s currently linked to.
If you need to bulk-import or bulk-map your entities, refer to the procedure 'Adding entities from Xero' instead (this process can also be used to map Xero files to entities originally imported with FYI).
Step 1: Navigate to the entity’s integration settings
Go to the Cimplico Workpapers entity you want to link.
Select Integrations from the menu.
Locate the Xero tile and select Configure.
Step 2: Disconnect an existing Xero connection (if applicable)
If there is already a Xero file connected that you wish to change:
The screen will display the currently connected Xero entity name.
Underneath, there will be a button labeled 'Disconnect from Xero'. Select this button.
A confirmation pop-up will appear. Select Disconnect.
The screen will now display 'Connect to Xero', indicating that no Xero file is linked.
If no entity was connected in the first place, the screen will already show 'Connect to Xero'.
Step 3: Authorise the Connection to Xero
Select 'Connect to Xero'.
A Xero authorisation screen will appear.
Here, select the entity you want to authorise.
If desired, you can authorise access to multiple entities by selecting 'Select All'.
Any entities already connected in Cimplico Workpapers will be pre-selected and greyed out.
Once your selection is complete, click 'Allow Access'.
Existing integrations will not be impacted.
Step 4: Map the Xero File to the Cimplico Workpapers Entity
After authorisation, you will be redirected back to Cimplico Workpapers.
The screen will now display the entity’s Xero integration settings.
Locate the 'Available Tenants' dropdown, which lists any Xero files that can be linked to this entity.
Select the correct Xero file from the dropdown.
Click 'Connect' to finalise the mapping.
Important: If you do not select 'Connect', the process remains incomplete.
Troubleshooting: Xero file not listed in available tenants
If the Xero file you need is not available in the dropdown, it is likely already linked to another Cimplico Workpapers entity. This can happen if:
The Xero file was previously linked to an old or archived entity.
The file was already mapped to another active entity within your firm.
How to resolve
Check for any old or archived entities that may have been previously linked to the Xero file.
If you cannot find the entity, contact Cimplico Workpapers support for assistance using our in-app Messenger.
Currently, there is no feature to search Cimplico Workpapers entities by their linked Xero file name, but improvements to this functionality are planned.
