Adding an entity from Xero allows you to pull key information, such as entity details and financial data, directly into Cimplico Workpapers. Before starting, ensure you have Reports access in Xero, as this is required to pull trial balances later down the track when preparing a workpaper.

💡Tip: Ensure you have read the article Choosing the best method to import entities and groups first to ensure this is the best approach for your firm.

Steps to add entities from Xero

  1. Navigate to the Entities tab from the main menu.

  2. Click New Entity in the top-right corner.

  3. Set the Source field to Xero.

  4. Click Connect to Xero to start the connection process.

  5. On the Xero authentication screen, select the entities you want to onboard.

  6. Click Continue with organisations to confirm your selections.

  7. After returning to Cimplico Workpapers, review the summary info box showing the actions to be performed.

  8. Use the table below the summary to manage your selections:

    1. Map Xero organisations to existing entities in Cimplico Workpapers by selecting them from the dropdown.

    2. Leave the dropdown blank to create a new entity in Cimplico Workpapers.

    3. Uncheck the box on the left if you do not wish to onboard a selected entity.

  9. Click Onboard to finalise the process.

  10. Monitor the progress indicator in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Wait for the process to complete before navigating away, as this may take a few minutes depending on the number of entities selected.

ℹ️ Note: We will automatically suggest mappings between authenticated Xero entities and existing entities with identical names.
