Adding entities from Xero

Written by Hannah Olsson
Updated this week

Adding an entity from Xero allows you to pull financial information, such as entity details and financial data, directly into Cimplico Workpapers.

Onboarding Tip: Ensure you have read the article Choosing the best method to import entities and groups first to ensure this is the best approach for your firm onboarding.

  1. Open the Entities list

    • From the main header, go to Entities.

    • Select New Entity (top-right).

  2. Choose Xero as the source

    • Set Source to Xero.

    • Select Connect to Xero.

  3. Authorise the connection in Xero

    • On the Xero authorisation screen, select the organisation(s) you want to bring into Cimplico Workpapers.

    • Select Allow Access to confirm.

    • If an organisation is greyed out, it may already be authorised or you don't have the correct permissions to authorise the connection

  4. Review and map connections

    • Back in Cimplico Workpapers, review the summary table.

    • The left side shows your Xero authorisations; use the dropdown on the right to map each one to an existing entity

    • To create a new entity, leave the dropdown blank.

    • Untick the checkbox on the left for any organisation you don’t want to onboard.

  5. Onboard

    • Select Onboard to create or map these Xero authorisations

    • Watch the progress indicator in the bottom-left and stay on the page until it finishes (this can take a few minutes depending on how many entities you selected).
