Excluding accounts in the trial balance helps streamline your workflow by removing accounts that don’t need to be considered as part of the workpaper.

Why Exclude Accounts?

Excluding accounts allows you to:

  • Simplify the trial balance by focusing only on relevant accounts.

  • Remove accounts that are immaterial or outside the scope of the workpaper.

The decision to exclude accounts should align with your firm’s policies and professional judgement.

How to Exclude Accounts

You can exclude accounts in two ways:

  1. From the Trial Balance Screen:

    • Select the accounts you want to exclude using the checkboxes.

    • Select Exclude and confirm this from the pop-up

  2. Within a Worksheet:

    • Open the worksheet for the account you want to exclude.

    • Click the Ellipses (...) within the worksheet and select Exclude.

Once excluded, the accounts will appear in the Excluded tab of the trial balance.
