Your trial of Cimplico Workpapers is designed to give you a full understanding of the platform’s features and benefits.

💡 Tip: We understand that accountants often operate at different paces—sometimes your schedule is packed, and other times you have more flexibility. That’s why this guide is designed for you to move through at your own pace within the 30-days.

While we recommend following it week by week (e.g., Stage 1 in Week 1, Stage 2 in Week 2), you can adjust to suit your availability and still gain a full understanding of how Cimplico Workpapers can enhance your firm.

Stage 1: Setting Up and Exploring

Goals

✅ Set up your account and firm

✅ Invite team members

✅ Familiarise yourself with the platform

✅ Set up an entity

Steps

  1. Invite Team Members:

    • Bring in a core team of testers and assign them appropriate roles within the firm (e.g., user or manager) to collaborate effectively during the trial.

  2. Navigate the program:

    • While we have a detailed article to guide you (linked below), the best way to familiarise yourself with the layout is to manually explore each header tab. Click through them one by one to see how the sections are structured. Hands-on navigation is the quickest way to gain confidence with the program.

  3. Create your first entity:

    • We recommend importing a handful of entities to maximise the trial experience. For best results, select entities that can be linked to Xero and require a workpaper. This will give you a full understanding of how the program handles real-world compliance jobs.

  4. Create your first group (for a more advanced trial experience):

    • If you’re aiming for a more advanced trial experience, consider creating a group to bundle multiple entities.

  5. Personalise your firm (for a more advanced trial experience):

    • If you want to truly customise your trial experience, have a go setting up a firm checklist template and procedure template. Otherwise, you can utilise our provided templates already built into the program.

Stage 2: Creating and Testing Workpapers

Goals

✅ Create a workpaper

✅ Navigate a workpaper

✅ Explore all workpaper features

Steps

  1. Create a workpaper:

    • Create your first workpaper, preferably for an entity requiring annual compliance (financial statements and income tax returns)

    • If possible, utilise an entity with a Xero file, and opt to include the trial balance in the setup.

  2. Navigate the workpaper:

    • Explore the various pages and tabs of the workpaper, with the workpaper dashboard as your guide on how your workpaper has progressed.

  3. Test Features:

    • Test all the various features of the workpapers, including worksheets, calculations, journals, internal comments and client queries with helpful links below.

  4. Set up multiple workpapers (for a more advanced experience):

    • We encourage you to set up multiple workpapers of varying sizes, complexities and entity types.

Stage 3: Collaboration and Certification

Goals

✅ Collaborate with your team

✅ Resolve client queries and internal comments

✅ Understand governance features

Steps

  1. Resolve Feedback:

    • Address client queries and internal comments to progress the workpaper.

  2. Certify the Workpaper:

    • Have your preparer, reviewer, and approver certify their roles to test the approval process.

    • If you're unable to certify, understand why by reviewing the certification panel (which lists the certification requirements).

Stage 4: Finalising and Reflecting

Goals

✅ Complete and export your workpaper

✅ Evaluate how Cimplico Workpapers can bring efficiencies to your firm

Steps

  1. Finalise and Export:

    • Complete and export the final workpaper

  2. Reflect: Reflect on the efficiencies gained during your trial

  3. Plan: Plan how to roll out Cimplico Workpapers across your firm:

    • Incorporate the rest of your entities and groups, with FYI and Xero integrations

    • Invite the rest of your team

    • Refine your checklist and procedure templates
