The key difference between a procedure and a checklist in Cimplico Workpapers lies in their scope and application.

Procedures

  • Procedures apply at the workpaper level, covering broader tasks not tied to specific accounts.

  • Examples of procedures include:

    • Ensuring an engagement agreement is in place

    • Creating a management letter

Checklists

  • Checklists apply at the worksheet level, specific to a worksheet's tag (currently managed through report codes)

  • Examples of checklists include:

    • Checking accounts receivable for bad debts (in this case, when the worksheet tag is ASS.CUR.REC.TRA)

    • Ensuring GST accounts have a GST reconciliation (in this case, when the worksheet tag is LIA.CUR.TAX.GST)

Finalising Workpapers

Workpapers cannot be finalised until all procedures and checklists are:

  • Ticked off as completed, or

  • Marked as non-applicable (N/A), with an optional note explaining why the item is N/A.

💡Tip: Use both procedures and checklists effectively to ensure all tasks—broad and account-specific—are thoroughly addressed before finalising workpapers.
