Updating tax rates for journals

Written by Marco Fiumara

Use this article to add or manage custom tax rates for journals posted to a Xero-connected ledger.

ℹ️ Note: This feature only applies if you're posting journals to a Xero-connected entity and need a tax rate that isn't already in Xero's standard rates. You can only manage tax rates for ledger-connected entities and workpapers.

💡 Tip: Xero is the single source of truth for tax rates. Where possible, manage your tax rates in Xero rather than creating them in Cimplico Workpapers.

Managing tax rates

Go to the entity's settings to manage its tax rates. From there, you can:

  1. View current tax rates.

  2. Reorder rates by dragging and dropping.

  3. Add a new rate.

  4. Edit a rate's details (name, account class, Xero tax report, and tax percentage).

  5. Delete a rate.

  6. Refresh rates from Xero.

A new tax rate's name and rate must form a unique combination. The order you set here is the order tax rates appear in the drop-down when applying a rate to a journal.

ℹ️ Note: You can't edit or delete a tax rate that's been created from Xero.
