Why can’t I journal to a particular account?

If an account isn’t appearing when you’re trying to journal, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

For Xero Entities

Cimplico Workpapers inherits Xero’s rules about which accounts can and cannot have journals. For example:

  • Xero does not allow journals to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Bank Accounts.

  • As a result, Cimplico Workpapers also restricts journals to these accounts when connected to Xero.

For Manual/CSV Entities

  • If you cannot journal to an account, it is likely because the account was not included in the imported trial balance.

  • Even accounts with NIL values (for both the current and prior year) need to be included in the CSV import if you anticipate journalling to them.

  • To resolve this, re-import the trial balance with the missing accounts added.
