Internal comments and client queries serve different purposes in Cimplico Workpapers, designed to help you manage actions and communications effectively.

Internal Comments

Internal comments are for internal notes and discussions. They’re ideal for:

  • Recording decisions made during the workpaper process.

  • Discussing review points or internal issues.

  • Adding notes for future reference.

Client Queries

Client queries are used to ask questions or request information from clients. They’re perfect for:

  • Following up on missing documents or data.

  • Clarifying details in client-provided information.

  • Managing items requiring client action.

Why are they separate?

We’ve kept internal comments and client queries separate to help you clearly distinguish between:

  • Actions waiting on the client (client queries).

  • Actions requiring internal attention (internal comments).

This separation allows you to easily see what’s pending from the client versus what needs internal follow-up.

Similarities

Despite their differences, both internal comments and client queries share some functionality:

  • Both can be added to worksheets or the workpaper as a whole.

  • Both are found in a worksheet's sidebar and in their own distinct page.

  • Both must be resolved for the workpaper to move into the review stage.
