Adding groups manually (individually or in bulk)

Groups in Cimplico Workpapers allow you to organise related entities under a single structure. You can add groups manually, either one at a time or in bulk using a CSV file.

💡 Tip: Ensure you have read the article Choosing the best method to import entities and groups first to ensure this is the best approach for your firm.

ℹ️ Note: Users, Managers, and Administrators all have permission to add groups.

Step 1: Access the groups screen

  1. Navigate to the Groups screen in the system.

  2. Select Add Group in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Choose the import method

  1. For Import Bulk, choose either:

    • No: To add groups individually.

    • Yes: To upload groups in bulk via CSV.

Step 3: Enter group details

Adding an individual group

  1. Fill in the following fields:

    1. Group Name: Enter a unique name for the group.

    2. Description: Optionally, add a description to provide context for the group.

    3. Entities: Select existing entities from the dropdown to assign them to this group.

  2. Select Create Group

Adding groups in bulk via CSV

  1. Download the CSV Template

  2. Fill in the Template: Use the table below to understand the required fields

  3. Upload the File: Drag and drop the file into the uploader or click to select the file manually.

  4. Click Create Group to process the file

CSV Requirements

Field

Description

Group Name *

Enter the group name, with a 50 character limit.

Description

Enter an optional description, with a 250 character limit.

Entities

The name of an entity to include in the group. Must match an existing entity in the system.

+ entities columns

Add one entity per column with the heading Entity.

Note: Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
