Can I override a calculation value?

Occasionally, there may be a need to override a calculated value in a template. This typically arises in situations such as:

  • aligning a current calculation to a calculation performed from prior years where a different program or method was used in those prior years; or

  • where there may be a small rounding variance which may cause a validation test to fail.

In these circumstances, you can override the calculated result (denoted by an ‘x’). If values are changed we recommend users attach a note to the worksheet to indicate why a value was overwritten.

Wherever possible, we encourage users not to override calculated values but instead to consider why the calculated value didn’t agree to the value required. If having determined that an adjustment is necessary we recommend that a separate “adjustment” line is entered which should address the majority of situations.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding calculation values please contact the support team for further instruction.
