Yes, you can use your own spreadsheets with Cimplico Workpapers. There are three ways to bring one in.
đĄ Recommendation: Link your spreadsheet with Attach a Link or Reference from FYI rather than uploading a static file. Both keep the file live, so you edit it in place instead of downloading, editing, and re-uploading a new version each time.
Attach a URL link
If your spreadsheet is already saved somewhere like OneDrive or Google Drive, you can link to it instead of uploading a copy.
In the worksheet's Files tab, select the arrow next to New File.
Choose New Link.
Type in a link name and paste the link to where the file is stored
Select Create Link
Clicking the link from Cimplico Workpapers opens the file in a new tab at its original location. The spreadsheet doesn't display inside Cimplico Workpapers, and you always see its latest version because you're opening the live file.
Reference a file from FYI
If your firm uses the FYI integration, you can reference a spreadsheet already stored in FYI instead of uploading a copy.
Open the file navigator on a worksheet entry.
Browse back through the filing system to the FYI folder.
Select the checkbox next to the file you want to reference.
See Referencing a document from FYI for the full setup and re-sync process.
Attach a file
To upload a static copy of your spreadsheet:
Go to the worksheet's Files tab.
Select New File.
Find the Document
Select Open
Because this uploads a fixed copy, any edits require downloading the file, making changes, and re-uploading it to replace the existing version - so use this option only when a live link isn't available.
đĄ Tip: Consider our pre-made Calculation Worksheets instead of an external spreadsheet. They're built for greater efficiency, data integrity, and offer advanced functionality and integrations.
